Introduction: I am a people watcher. If you sit and just watch people, you find them at their most vulnerable moments when no one is looking. That's how I try to photograph. Yes, I pose people for portraits, but it's the natural moments that I aim for. The photojournalistic style I achieve, I believe, stands out from the everyday cliche shots taken.
Most people do not like to be photographed. They would rather shy away from the camera or pray it's over quickly. I am a people's person. I try to relate to them more on a human level then just a professional. If I feel people are uncomfortable I try to make them feel relaxed. I love when I accomplish that. It's not just about the photograph being taken, it's about how the person feels during the session and bringing out the beauty in them that they usually wouldn't see or accept. It's almost like a goal for me. Oh, you're not photogenic? I will prove you wrong and make this fun. Those people usually are the most photogenic. I have worked with many people who would call themselves un-photogenic or are nervous and have a low self esteem. It's when I take a shot, they see it and their whole face lights up with shock and admiration of how truly beautiful they are, that's when my job is done. It's all about the human in front of the lens and how you have changed their view. Sometimes all we need is to see a reflection of ourselves to open our eyes to our own beauty. That, is what I enjoy most about my passion for photography.
