I had a great experience working with Preferred Solutions. Overall, I’d rate the job about an 8/10. He was professional, showed up ready to work, and did a good job bringing my vision to life. What stood out the most was his ability to problem-solve. Some of my decorations were missing hardware or weren’t straightforward to install, but he found creative solutions and was able to freestyle parts of the design while still keeping the overall look cohesive.
He took his time to make sure everything was mounted securely and wasn’t afraid to make adjustments when something looked better a different way. I also appreciated that he communicated well throughout the project and genuinely wanted me to be happy with the final result before considering the job complete.
If you’re looking for someone who’s patient, resourceful, and willing to think through a project instead of just rushing to finish it, I’d definitely recommend Preferred Solutions. Thanks again for all the hard work!

David and Jason did an amazing job remodeling my home gym. I paid another handyman I found on Thumbtack, but he did a terrible job—he installed the weights upside down, and the bolts were loose. I called him to come back and fix it, but he didn’t respond. So, I contacted David, and I could tell right away that he was competent and professional. He assured me he could handle everything and responded promptly. His communication skills were excellent—he kept me informed at every step. If you need any work done, I highly recommend calling David and Jason. I wish I had done so from the start; it would have saved me money, time, and stress. Thank you, David and Jason. Be a little more flexible on project price, the contractor quoted $125.00 prior to even seeing the job. Upon arrival the job took about four screws and 20min which really should have been about $50.00 but he insisted on his $125.00. Will not use again.

I understand how that price can seem high in the moment. I think its fair to talk about all the details involved though. You contacted me on Monday asking for this job to be done immediately. I informed you that I was in Aiken working and could possibly be in the area tomorrow but would have to contact you later in the day to give you a definite yes or no. I was able to fit you in Tuesday, which was the following day and informed you. I also stated that the price would be $125 for a simple fix and we would go from there for a more complicated solution. You agreed upon this with no hesitation or contest.
We discussed how Im based in Orangeburg and that morning I was actually coming form Charleston, Sc. I discussed I needed to get my crew going on a job in your area. That job was 45 minutes from your residence and I was actually at your property for about 45 minutes. So its important to remember actual time a contractor has to dedicate to your job while considering a price.
Lastly our cost of business has alot to do with price, not just our actual profits. We pay to respond to or reach out to each customer on Thumbtack, we are not hired for most of those jobs. We have to carry an assortment of tools and supplies to be able to respond to immediate/emergency jobs. We have to factor in daily business operational costs to every hour we spend working. I can assure you the actual profit made from this job after factoring all costs in is no were near $125.
