After they finished I was asked to leave a critical review of their services. Well.... The guys did a great job on my home. They painted my kitchen and dining room along with the exterior. The owner, Mike, refinished my fiberglass front door with a beautiful brown mahogany stain. He also refinished our cabinets. His work on the cabinets was especially impressive. I wanted to swap the hardware so he filled the existing holes and sanded everything perfectly. They look amazing! My husband was really impressed with how they meticulously re-caulked the siding and trim on the outside. Mike was very patient with me about the colors. We decided to change the trim & shutter color after they coated the front entirely. Mike offered to re-paint the trim for the cost of the paint! Im just thrilled to finally have a contractor I can rely on. I plan to have them back to remove some popcorn ceiling and wallpaper. Thanks HTHC! My home has never looked better!

We bought an older home that needed a lot of work. Mike and Cindy removed a ton of popcorn ceilings...our ceilings are now perfectly smooth and beautiful. They also removed wallpaper and smoothly refinished our walls. We were so impressed with the great job they did, that we called them back to paint the exterior of our home. They were very thorough! They repaired and replaced rotten wood siding and a rotten column, and they did a fabulous job painting the house and trim. All for a very fair price! We highly recommend!!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.
