Introduction

Instead of focusing on vocal cues to get dogs to perform, I concentrate on putting the owner at the center of his dog's world to create a balanced, healthy environment for both humans and dogs. This way the dog is always ready to do whatever its master wants, rather than being confused by a lot of noise. As an introvert with Asperger's syndrome, I often feel more comfortable around animals than humans. Dogs in particular have a much more physical and scent-based awareness than humans do, so they tend to be quiet and non-threatening when handled correctly. It is a pleasure to open this awareness to people and show them how they can use a knowledge of their dog's point of view to be a leader according to the needs of the pack.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Ten to fifteen dollars per hour is all I ask if you live less than fifteen miles away; if you are further out I may ask for reimbursement for gas. I know money is tight for a lot of people right now, so if you have any special concerns or requests, let me know.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every dog I encounter is a learning experience, as is every dog owner. The more I learn, the more predictable the dog behavior becomes, but the owners remain a big challenge. Owners are often proud and defensive, not wanting to admit that they might have been handling their dogs incorrectly. It's only when the owner becomes open to new ideas that we can begin to learn about his dog together.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have loved dogs since I was very, very young. I'm not sure where it came from. My sister had a cat, and I liked him fine, but I always thought a dog would be much better. Finally, when I was eleven years old I got my first puppy. I learned a lot from him, but I wish I had known then what I know now about dog psychology. I'm sure there are a lot of good dog owners out there who could be great dog owners if they shared this knowledge. I want to pass on the knowledge to them. More than a third of American households include at least one dog. From talking with various owners, I estimate that only about one tenth of them are even close to understanding dog psychology. I want to turn those numbers completely around.
