Hello! My name is Jon, and I'd be delighted to work with you! I tailor a customized lesson program to meet the needs of each individual student. I have over 25 years of experience as a professional musician and teacher and am a licensed educator in Tennessee. I'm also very warm and personable in my approach. I make the music lesson experience about YOU, not me, and we'll definitely have a great time while we work together.
I'm classically trained, but I'm also very proficient and well-versed in other styles such as rock/pop and jazz. For beginners, I keep things very simple and we go step by step at YOUR pace. For the experienced folks, I simply meet you where you're at, fill in any gaps in your training, and move forward from there.

If you are looking for an engaging, professional, and enthusiastic piano instructor, look no further! I've had a few pianolessons with Jon and am already learning a lot and having fun at the same time. His passion for music really comes through in his lessons, and he tailors lessons around your skill level, interests, etc. I couldn't recommend him more highly!

My sons have taken pianolessons from Jon since December 2015. He is patient with the boys and tailors the lessons to their ages. He's very easy to work with on schedule flexibility. The boys enjoy learning and have shown great progress. We highly recommend him!

Classes are very convenient and fit perfectly into our family's busy schedule. My 4-year-old is more engaged in his lesson than I thought he would be, and is more drawn to practice on the keyboard at home. The best part is that he understands his teacher and after only one lesson, it is clear he is learning.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer quarterly discounts, so you get 12 lessons for the price of 11 if you sign up and pay for 3 months at a time. I do not charge extra for travel.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For music lessons, I schedule a "meet and greet" with the client to get to know the family and/or individual a little bit better and spend a few minutes with the student in a trial lesson. There is no obligation for this initial service. From that point it is up to the client to decide whether or not to proceed with a commitment to lessons.
For performance services, I invite the client to come to my home and listen to me perform for them as an audition. If the person decides to hire me at that point, I have a work-for-hire agreement that we fill out together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing music since 1976, and I've been teaching it since 1990. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois.
