Introduction: Having grown up and lived in Spain for 18 years, I acquired both Spanish and English as a mother tongue. I am a Certified Court Interpreter and Translator for the State of Tennessee. I have done work as a translator and interpreter for a variety of courts and law firms in TN and MS, the University of Memphis Criminal Justice Dept., TEIS (Tennessee Early Intervention System), the TN Department of Child Services, the Memphis Child Advocacy Center, and Social Security hearings among others. I am not only a native Spanish speaker, but culturally competent as well. Being completely bilingual, I am able to translate the ideas and nuances of both languages better than one who has acquired either English or Spanish as a second language. I do not just transliterate from one language to another, but instead relay the message with absolute fidelity in the most natural and appropriate language and diction for the target audience.
