I'm from Costa Rica, a beautiful central american country, Spanish speaking but with an easy accent to understand and learn. I love to teach, I was an special ed teacher during 15years, then 10 years I was involved in Human Resources in a company, and now, I decided to go back to teach, because is my passion. I worked in Costa Rica,Italy, and India. I love to travel, cook, dance and meet people. I can adapt my lessons to different needs, ages and learning styles. When students feel more confident of themselves because they realized their ability to learn new things. A new language open opportunities not just to work, but to understand, share and respect other cultures.

I am taking lessons with Patricia and also a Spanish class at Tennessee Foreign Language Institute. I like Patricia's teaching style so much more and am learning more with her so I won't be taking further courses with TFLI but will be doing more with her instead!

She is an excellent teacher. She teaches with a personal approach by finding out your reasons for wanting to learn Spanish as well as your expectations and interests. She is very organized with her lesson plans and practice.

Patricia was very patient with me as an older, senior student. Being a visual learner, I was given materials and practice that I helped me learn best and comprehend. She never gave up when I reached a hurdle. Patricia pushed to make me a better student and was instrumental in making my travel to Mexico much more rewarding. The locals there liked my trying to converse in their language. I got a lot of smiles and compliments. I will continue to use Patricia as an instructor. My goal is to only use Spanish as I travel back to Mexico and visit other Spanish speaking countries. Patricia will help me fulfill this goal.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $30 per person per hour if the student come to my house or online. For groups of 3 to 4 persons, I charge $25 per person per hour. If the student pays 20 lessons up front, there will be a 10% discount.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first session is an interview to know how much Spanish does the student understand. Then I ask questions to plan the class according to their needs. After the first class, they will receive short homework by phone during the week. If the student is interested, we will also visit places to practice Spanish (supermarkets, library, etc).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a Special Ed teacher and psychologist. I have tought and worked in India, Italy and Costa Rica.
