About

I offer virtual tutoring in practically all math subjects from basic math through calculus. All you need is a computer (or tablet, but preferably a computer) with Skype and a microphone (which all laptops have built in). Having taught math for 17 years in public school at all levels from algebra through calculus, and now with 7 years of experience as a full time tutor, I know why students "don't get" certain topics. My familiarity with the obstacles enables me to better help students overcome them. Rather than show students gimmicks to help remember, I focus on helping students understand. Understanding is, after all, what learning is all about, and it is the key to long term success in math. My slogan is, "If you don't why, why know?" I am so confident that you will be pleased with my service that if you are not satisfied with the first session, I will not charge you! Plus, unlike most tutoring agencies, my service would not require a subscription. You can pay as you go, via PayPal, Google Wallet, Venmo, or Zelle. For more details, please visit my website. Initially I was skeptical about trying thumbtack so glad I did. Lee “Mathedmaven” is the absolute best! He accommodated my schedule and helped me with the exact area/problems of college Algebra I requested. He is extremely knowledgeable and the way he breaks down the problems and his explanations are priceless. He is the reason why I passed. He's patient and really knows how to get you involved in math. MathEdMaven Tutoring is AMAZING! I've used him since he began 2 1/2 years ago, and have now hired him to teach me Calculus I, II, and III! He ALWAYS come prepared with problems and materials if given the material ahead of time, but is just as confident with doing math on the fly! The online platform makes it easy to work on the go. Hi Folks, Let me make this straight to the point. This is the BEST math tutor out there. If you don't learn your material with him, then you won't learn it with anyone. Seriously, look no further. His style, patience, and set up are second to none. You will get all notes regarding the material that you both covered which is awesome to come back and review with.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first hour each week is $54. Anytime after that during the same week is $48 per hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask the student if they know specifically what (s)he needs help with. If (s)he cannot tell me, I probe to see what (s)he understands and doesn't understand. I make it clear that my goal is to help with UNDERSTANDING, not just help to get an assignment completed. If a first time customer is not satisfied with my service, I do not charge anything. I have only had to implement this a few times, because most people are very pleased, as is evident from my reviews.
