Introduction: ABOUT (NOTE: I AM CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS BEGINNING May 24th. I AM HAPPY TO SPEAK WITH YOU IN THE MEANTIME.) Do you have difficulty when speaking English? Do you have to keep repeating what you say or are NOT FULLY UNDERSTOOD? I teach pronunciation of English so that you CAN BE EASILY UNDERSTOOD! I teach HOW to make the sounds of English. and This is a complement for ESL learners and is essential to speaking the language effectively. I began teaching English speech instruction in 1991 and have worked with students from over 50 countries and over 25 different languages. I always work to positively encourage my students while guiding them to improve on how they sound. Standard American Speech is taught in top acting schools in the US. I simplified what I learned and work to give the essentials that a person needs to learn to speak English clearly and correctly. I give real goals to the student while pushing them to reach new and higher goals. This technique strengthens the voice and all of the muscles used in speaking. Different languages use different muscles to speak their language and I teach exercises that train all of the facial muscles in order to easily speak all of the sounds of English. It results in GREATER CONFIDENCE IN SPEAKING ENGLISH. It is extremely helpful for anyone of any nationality and a MUST FOR ACTORS AND PUBLIC SPEAKERS. Check out my website for more information. I "unlock the door" to how to make American English sounds. I enjoy helping students to find ways to make a speech or script stronger and more expressive, be it using the sounds and rhythms of the language, changes in pitch or finding which words to push to create the effect one wants to create. Communication is an essential part of living. It is also an art form and communicating effectively can be the difference between success and failure. Feel free to ask questions, I'm here to help!

ESL (English as a Second Language) Lessons

I was very pleased to take the lessons from Judy. She is a very experienced teacher. She understands why non-native Americans have a trouble pronouncing certain words and she can teach me how to use the tongue and lips correctly to articulate the sound. She also points out which sounds I cannot say right, so I am more conscious to say those words now and focus on practicing those. Thank you so much for your help, Judy!

ESL (English as a Second Language) Lessons

It’s been so lovely to work with Judy! She taught me to pronounce so many sounds in a correct way that I even didn’t think about before. She has a great material and she always brings something really interesting to work on during the lesson. I highly recommend Judy!

It's been an amazing experience learning with Judy. As all the other reviews said, I wish I could meet Judy 10 years ago to know how you really need to do to correct your pronunciation and gain more confidence in speaking. After 10 sessions with Judy, I find myself knowing exactly where to correct myself when I'm having trouble announcing the right sound, and how to do the practices which are so helpful for forming a good speaking habit. Thank you so much, Judy, for your hard work training yourself to speak perfectly without an accent as an American, you inspired me to be more confident in myself when I'm talking to people. Like I mentioned to Judy earlier, talking to strangers was a big problem for me due to my nervousness, it actually gives me anxiety even just to think about it. I called those people "monsters" because they scared me off and always reminded me of the fact that I'm just an outlander and will always be like this typical quiet and not confident Asian in this country. But it changed overnight once I found out I could actually change that in my life, by training regularly and professionally with a tutor. I feel so much better when I try to put my words together, it takes my anxiety of not speaking with perfect English away in here. I couldn't be thankful enough to meet Judy and be where I am right now! Wish you all the best, Judy!-Mingxue

ESL (English as a Second Language) Lessons

July is really a professional in Accent Reduction. I wish I could have known her earlier! I've been taken classes from her for 4 weeks and I can see my progress! She has her own materials that includes muscles training as well as vowels and consonants pronunciations. Those are all very basic foundation that a serious learner should spend time on. Plus, she is very positive and always encourages you to be a better you. Highly recommend her!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

PLEASE NOTE: I work on SKYPE, TELEPHONE AND ZOOM ONLY. I work with students all over the world using these platforms. Fees are $85 per hour with a sliding scale discount for multiple lessons paid in advance. I am currently not accepting new students until February 1, 2021, my schedule is full at the moment. Please contact me for more information and to schedule a phone call. Thank you!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I speak to the new student and find out their specific needs and goals. During this initial consultation, I listen to their speech and can evaluate strong and weak points. I then work with them on what their specific short and long range goals are and schedule according to their needs. I work to zero in on each individual's immediate needs.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I trained with one of the top acting and speech coaches in the US for 3 years. I also studied singing at American Conservatory of Music for 2 + years. In addition, I worked at a business communications company that taught executives public speaking techniques, helping with the seminars. Throughout the years I have been doing a lot of independent study on effective communication and have worked now with students from more than 50 different countries and 25 different languages.
