FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am considered to be in the mid-range for pricing of calligraphy jobs. With my several years of experience, I could easily charge considerably more for the work, but choose not to. I try to treat people the way I'd want to be treated.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Having a brief phone conversation or FaceTime meeting is essential to get a good grasp of the scope of the project. Then a clearer, more accurate estimate can be given, followed up by the signing of a contract. Open communication, mostly by email, helps to clarify any questions, and make adjustments, as needed. Showing samples of the work helps everyone feel at ease, as the work progresses. This way, the client receives all that was hoped for.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was trained in Fine Arts at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York by a Master Calligrapher, who did all of the Hallmark cards before there were computerized fonts. I still hear his words in my mind today, as I write. I couldn't have had a better teacher.
