John is an exceptional magician who knows how to entertain as well as blow people’s minds. We are all stumped as to how he did what he did. We will definitely hire him again in the very near future. John is THE magician to hire for your next event. He will exceed your expectations without a doubt. A+++ / 5 Stars all day long.Oct 20, 2019Verified
We are the leaders of a Cub Scout pack who had a Harry Potter theme for our Blue and Gold Banquet, so we decided to hire John as our magician. We are so pleased that we chose John. He was awesome with the kids mainly 1st-5th grade. He had superb magic trick that kept the kids on the edge of their seats. He was extremely patient with the kids, and we would not hesitate to recommend John or hire him again if such need were to arise. Thanks John for producing some fond memories for our scouts.Mar 20, 2018Verified
John was perfect for our event! He kept our employees entertained and a great feel for the audience. Just when I thought I had him figured out, he surprised us like great magicians do! Thank you for coming John!Jan 30, 2017Verified
Personally, John Midgley is the best magician I have ever seen. On top of that he's one of the best people I've ever met. If you've never had the chance to see him preform, I highly recommend that you do.May 15, 2015
John Midgley is a fantastic magician! He is able to do amazing illusions that you will make you think, "That was completely IMPOSSIBLE!" He is able to perform for crowds young and old, big and small. He puts a lot of hard work into his magic and it shows through his extraordinary talent.May 14, 2015
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My fees are based on the amount of time I will be performing, how many guests will be in attendance and the travel involved. I have a set amount of "free shows" I do in a year. Because I have to pay to respond to requests on thumbtack I will not entertain volunteer shows through thumbtack. However, you can always contact me at closeupmagiman at aol dot com, if you do have that request.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First and foremost I want to find out what you want. I typically have a regular performing contract and request a 10 percent deposit for holding the date.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a psychiatric social worker and utilize psychology in much of what I do. This also helps me to navigate different personalities. Plus I have psychological tactics I used for some of my magic. I am also the regional vice president of The Society of American Magicians. I assist and create many things for the magic community (behind the scenes).
