Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Graduating from a highly-acclaimed music school taught me how to infuse sincere discipline, hard work, and a good deal of musical knowledge into habits that I like to pass on to others who are making their own journeys through music, whether they are just starting out or well on their way to becoming a serious, experienced player. But to make a good balance, I also come from a background of listening to and playing music that just feels good and speaks to some part of my soul, which is something school can't teach. Therefore, I like to encourage students to open up to that feeling by teaching less traditionally, reaching into their backgrounds to when they were first introduced to music and what hooked them in the first place. To get in touch with this is to find that wholesome sense that music provides and keeps us wanting more. Being a music teacher is so rewarding in the sense that I get to witness students discover new music, new ways of listening and thinking about music, and new things that get them excited. But simultaneously, I'm discovering things right along with them! The students are sharing music with me just as much as I'm sharing with them. It's a mutual learning process that constantly recycles itself. So much fun!

Keenan was hired to run sound for me on a "sizzle reel"shot earlier this year. The shoot was all on location late winter. He did an excellent job and captured the natural sounds, as well as voices of non-professionals, beautifully. I feel his sensitivity with sound is largely due to his musical talents and skills. It also doesn't hurt that if you ask him 'to go a mile', he'll go three. I will want him on any future projects and that goes for writing and performing music as well. kc -Winfree Productions

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

As when I was taking lessons when I was younger, I think it's really important to find a teacher who is enthusiastic about helping the student see the excitement and joy in music and who encourages practicing an instrument to experience that music in a new way. Also, the more comfortable you feel, naturally the more attentive and willing you become to learn, so finding a teacher who encourages and nurtures an environment of comfort and personal relatability is the way to go. Because this can be a vulnerable process, where students are trying to learn something, not just about music, but about themselves, and exploring interests and parts of themselves they are unsure about or trying to "flesh out" so to speak. A good teacher needs to be caring and comforting with this process.
