Leland pours himself into his work, and has the production chops to turn on a dime. He tunes into the artist’s vision and helps it drive it along. A pleasure to work with.Feb 14, 2020Verified
First session with South Light Sound is in the books and I can honestly say this is the best experience I've had in the studio, ever. Leland was able to pick up on the direction I had for the project almost instantaneously, and brought it home for the win! He's a whiz in every facet of music production and I highly recommend him and his company to anyone looking for a producer and/or studio time. His prices are fair and the atmosphere is awesome! I definitely know who I'm going to for my next project.May 2, 2019Verified
Leland was welcoming to the studio. He was professional & courteous. His knowledge, expertise, technology , and great gear enabled me to produce a high quality end product in less time than I thought. He has a good ear for detail & gave good insight. Will return soon with more projects!Jan 20, 2019Verified
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Leland is a very talented Producer. He, the Vocalists and Musicians were professional and punctual. They provided exactly what I wanted in regards to the final product. The project was successful. Kudos!Jul 6, 2018Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Studio is $25/hour. That gets you into this incredible space to vibe out and record. If you want me to oversee the engineering (run the computer and push the buttons) then it’s $50/hour for the studio and me. Further into your project you may want production guidance, mixing, editing, and mastering; all of those prices are done on a case by case basis. For example, I will mix a full band track for $250 all in. However if you’re a singer or rapper who already has the beat done then I’ll mix your vocals with the beat, and master, for $100. I can hire a full band for $1500/song (not hourly) and I can produce a full track for you for about the same, again not hourly. I’m fair but I don’t want to intrude and insert myself into a recording where I’m not wanted “producing” so I’m always upfront. If the client needs a pricing break I’m always willing to discuss that. Everything can be negotiable. I want you to make music for your heart and from your soul. Lack of funding shouldn’t hold you back.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I really like to sit down and get to know them first, like really get at what they want...sometimes you can push record too soon and the end product doesn’t match what the artist or client wanted...I find that having an honest conversation initially always pays off in the end result, and everyone is happier...haha and then the client comes back!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a 4 year degree which includes focus in multiple instruments (piano, drums, horns, orchestral, etc...) and studio production and recording.
