What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For any design job, I charge $40.00 per hour. I give an interested customer an estimate of how long I think it will take me to design a job. If I go over what I estimated, I inform the customer immediately and we go from there. If any printing is involved, that is quoted separately.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am member of AIGA and keep up with the latest programs used in design.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started designing things in high school when I was a cheerleader. One thing led to another and I was able to create and work on several different projects before graduating.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I design all types of jobs from business cards and forms, wedding invitations and prints, to booklets and brochures. I have also had experience in wide format signage, banners, and t-shirts!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Go into the project with the realization that creating anything from scratch takes time. Be willing to talk with the designer about your vision, but be understanding and trusting that your designer knows what will work best for you project. Communication is key!
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Designing takes time, thought, and effort. It's not just a click of a button.
