  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Aquatic Therapy uses water to promote healing and maximize exercise performance. Water has many properties that make it beneficial in a therapeutic environment. The buoyancy of water decreases the amount of weight on your joints and, because the water helps to support your body, it allows for a safer environment to test out your balance. For athletic injuries, this promotes a faster return to activities. Water's hydrostatic pressure decreases edema in joints and extremities, helps return blood to the heart, and lowers the working heart rate as compared to the rate on land for the same work out intensity. Water's viscosity, or density, is also great for muscles. The resistive property of water is 600 times that of air, so the faster a body part is moved through the water, the stronger it becomes. Our therapeutic water is kept at a temperature which promotes muscle relaxation, easier joint movement, and increased circulation. Good candidates for aquatic therapy include those suffering from arthritis, fibromyalgia, sprains/strains, back pain, obesity, respiratory and circulatory problems, as well as those with athletic injuries. Aquatic therapy is now offered at the Cleveland, East Ridge, Gunbarrel, McCallie and Hixson locations. Manual Therapy manualtherapy Following are some of our manual therapy procedures . . . Passive Stretching – used on limited or restricted joints to enhance range of motion and reduce capsular tightness Manual Joint Mobilizations – accessory motions used to enhance passive range of motion in a joint Myofascial Release – gentle manual technique to increase blood flow and decrease subjective pain Soft Tissue Mobilization – manual treatment used to enhance resting tissue length and reduce presence of trigger points Cross Friction Massage – aggressive manual technique used on chronic tissue inflammation to promote healing Therapeutic exercise along with manual therapy intervention is crucial to our patient’s recovery and success with rehab. astymsmallASTYM is a great, non-invasive procedure for alleviating pain in those suffering from Carpal Tunnel, Tennis Elbow, Golfer's Elbow, wrist sprains, shoulder pain, Achilles Tendinitis, low back pain, and hip pain, just to name a few. ASTYM therapy is a three step process. Your therapist will use a special instrument to isolate the damaged tissue and then proceed to distribute pressure along the area in a manner similar to that of a massage. The damaged tissue responds to this by beginning to heal itself. This process is called "fibroblast recruitment and activation". As a final step, you will be instructed on custom exercise regimens which strengthen and recondition the area, making the tissue and muscles stronger and more functional. Kinesiotaping is a way to prolong the effects of manual therapy using a flexible tape. Dry Needling acupuncture backAnyone suffering from a condition related to muscular dysfunction can benefit from dry needling. A few examples of such a condition include but are not limited to the following: neck and back pain, headaches, TMJ, Carpal Tunnel, Plantar Fasciitis, Osteoarthritis, Tendonitis, Fibromyalgia, knee pain, and muscle strains.acupuncture needle in hand Dry Needling is a therapy treatment that involves inserting thin needles into the muscle tissue. Within the muscle tissue are trigger points which are the source of tension and pain. The contact of the needle to the trigger point releases this tension often resulting in an immediate improvement in muscle function and pain reduction. acupuncture shoulderThe insertion of the needle is virtually painless for most people. However, when a trigger point is contacted a twitch response is induced. This twitch response results in a sensation often described as similar to a small static shock which subsides almost instantly. Most people also report some muscle soreness following a treatment. doctor acupuncture“Isn’t this Acupuncture?” No. Although they look similar and use the same basic tools, dry needling and acupuncture are very different. Whereas Acupuncture is focused on traditional Chinese medicine and a balancing of “energy flow”, Dry Needling is focused on the release of muscle tension and based on the principles of western medicine.
