Very great attorney, I spoke with Mr. Marshall for less than fifteen minutes on the phone, he figured out what I needed for me and my loved one. I am grateful and sure that it will turn out great. If you choose an attorney on thumb tack, Mr. Marshall is one you consider.

James is a true professional who listens and reacts to his clients needs. I had a special situation and needed his services on short notice. James delivered and the case was dismissed. I would suggest speaking to him about your case if you want to be treated like your situation is as important to your lawyer as it is to you.

Can't thank James Marshall enough! I called him less than 24hrs before my court date hat in hand not giving him much to work with at all and he still took me on and I couldn't be more grateful and indebted to him. I feel like I got best deal possible all things considered. Definitely recommend his services!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Typically, family law cases are handled on an hourly basis. My hourly fee is $250.00 per hour and is billed in tenths (1/10) of an hour,...so, if you and I are discussing your case on the phone for 10-12 minutes, that would be billed as a .2 against my hourly rate. Criminal cases are usually billed as a flat-rate, meaning I quote a one-time flat fee to represent you in your case. The quotes given initially on Thumbtack are subject to modification. This is due to the fact that oftentimes there is very little information initially provided regarding the details of your case. For instance, I can give a quote on a DUI case, assuming it is a DUI 1st offense in General Sessions Court (with no other information given). But then, when I speak to the potential client, I learn it's a DUI (4th), a felony, and is scheduled for jury trial in Circuit Court two weeks. Obviously, under that scenario, my quoted fee would be different.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Typically, I will schedule a time to sit down and meet with the potential client to review the details of their case. I offer a free initial consultation, so there is no obligation at the point to retain my services. I will review the facts of their case and offer my professional legal advice regarding what strategy and/or course of action should be taken to most effectively represent the client.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I attended Auburn University, receiving my B.A. in Political Science. I then went to the Nashville School of Law and received my law degree (J.D.). I have recently completed the Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Family Law mediation training.
