FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I like to find out specifically what the student's goals are. Then I start with very basic technique. I'm very meticulous about building muscle memory in certain techniques in a step by step process. Once one aspect of the technique becomes ingrained as muscle memory, we move on to another aspect, focusing on one at a time. That way, the student doesn't become frustrated by trying to focus on multiple new skills at once.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played guitar for twenty years. I studied at Wilmington Music School from age 10 to 17 and played professionally in various bands since 2001. I attended college at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where I continued to play in several bands, including the band that accompanied the Naval Academy Gospel Choir.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started teaching guitar lessons to several of the Marines in my Battalion while I was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I found I really enjoyed it, so when I left the Marine Corps I decided to continue teaching privately.
