- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It wasn't until I was finished making others happy. I attended nursing school just to please my parents. When I realized I was miserable, I had to do something for myself. I couldn't be afraid of letting them down anymore. I was always fascinated with makeup, colors and girls who knew how to do makeup. I would go to MAC and drool at the counters but knew nothing about it or how to do it. So I decided to just go for it. With a bit of saving up and a little research, I found one of the best schools in the country and hopped on a plane to Chicago where I became certified. It was over from there, I was hooked. I scheduled my first photo shoot the week I returned and have been doing it ever since.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Bridal work is my most consistent clientele but definitely not the only thing. Anything from avant-garde to SFX I've done and have loved every minute of it.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do NOT be afraid to ask questions! The more informed you are the better. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my philosophy, tips and tricks, stories and so on. Also, I'm always willing to do my best to work with my clients on budget, location, etc. so don't be shy, ask!
