Introduction: Hey there, I'm Matt Latham, certified arborist, a Texas native with a true love of trees! I've been has been climbing and caring for trees since 2004, and have been a practicing certified Arborist for over 10 years now! I've spent my entire career developing a wealth of knowledge in all things trees to better serve my clients in caring for their "green pets!" My history includes all aspects of tree care, including Tree Health Care, structural integrity care of trees, tree preservation, proper pruning techniques, hazardous tree removals, as well as planting and transplanting trees successfully. I've had an extremely high success rate at keeping trees from breaking in storms, and even warranty my work against storm damage when done properly! I was featured for several years as the consulting arborist on the Texas Home Improvement Show, broadcast throughout Texas on WBAP with Jim Dutton, where I answered many of Texas' toughest tree related questions and gave my expert advice. As a competitive tree climber, I've proven my skills as an expert tree climb by winning multiple awards in various Tree Climbing Championships throughout the southern United States and competing against some of the best Arborists in the world! As a family man, safety is my #1 priority.... we have one rule in tree care that every other rule falls under - we come home at the end of each day, so you can enjoy your experience caring for your trees instead of worrying. I take pride in having a nearly flawless track record when it comes to preventing damage to person or property! I have extensive experience working on high profile jobs that include popular tourist attractions (National Forest Service property and National forests), several arboretums and government properties, as well as local celebrities and athletes properties.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of our clients call because they have some sort of problem with their trees (tip dieback, slow growth, leaf discoloration, limb or tissue death, etc.). Depending on what sort of biotic or abiotic diseases are present with their trees, often we can treat and prune their trees. This is most often followed up with a rigorous Plant Health Care (PHC) plan that is intended to upgrade the trees' health and vigor so that it may fend for itself! Sometimes, again depending on what is "wrong" with the tree, the tree presents too much of a hazard, in which case we plan to remove the tree and start fresh with a new tree planted properly.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Trees are living, breathing, eating organisms that require special attention and care. Most "qualified" professionals' only qualification is that they know how to run a chainsaw. Make sure that you don't wind up regretting your decision to hire someone to butcher your trees, by checking their qualifications and history in their respective industry. ALWAYS check references (don't just ask for them, but actually find out the references' experience) and make informed decisions based on all of your resources!
