FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First 15 customers, LIFETIME 30% discount on all labor. For life. Your life. Just leave me an honest review. Prior to consultation, you can expect a standard aquarium cleaning to be 1$ per gallon. Standard cleaning includes a water test, scraping algae off primary glass surfaces, siphoning substrate, and a water change (amount of water determined by water test). After consultation prices will vary based on factors including but not limited to: the condition of the tank (is it a disaster and you know it)? Does my water change system work at your house or do I have to carry 50-pound buckets up and down stairs? Are we cleaning the filters? What type of filter? Are we cleaning decorations? Does that fish have teeth? (looking at you Dovii) Is it a venomous or poisonous pet? For the most part, I will provide the chemicals and tools required, free of charge. However, if there is a special need that I can't see a future use case for, I will likely charge you for it, or split the cost.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will start with a phone call. Assuming it's an aquarium maintenance I would expect to know the tank size in gallons and the height from the ground to the top of the tank. I would want to know how long the tank has been set up, what issues (if any) you're having, the basic community of fish you keep, and what services you're seeking. If needed, we can do a video consultation to resolve any further questions and confirm a price. Once I've arrived we will both take pictures of the tank prior to work, to ensure that I don't break anything and that you can post amazing reviews afterward. We'll confirm the prices again (sorry, but there is sometimes something), I'll have you sign a document that confirms the current status of your tank, confirming any prior scratches or damage, and then I'll get to work. If you're looking for anything beyond aquarium maintenance, we'll start with a phone call and see what we can sort out.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20 years keeping fish, turtles, spiders, rabbits, chickens, dogs, cats, lizards, planted aquariums, etc. Several years working in fish stores. Decades managing customer service in high-end retail. (I know how to take care of the good customer)
