I believe that each student will be successful when they enjoy learning and have something concrete to show for it. It is my privilege to work with students to achieve their goals in an encouraging, fun, hard-working environment.
I have worked for over 30 years with many different kinds of students. Some enjoy playing for personal enjoyment, while some prefer the competitive route. I've been trained and worked with students of all abilities. I've worked with young flutists who require a special head joint to play, more mature students who play to keep their brain active and healthy, and everybody in between. Several of my students have chosen to pursue a career in music and have earned scholarships at their respective universities.
In our flute studio, we perform several times per year at studio recitals and concerts for the community. We attend local flute events, masterclasses, and festivals together. Music is meant to be shared, and we enjoy sharing!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before the first lesson, the client and I have a conversation to communicate materials needed, technical needs if an online lesson, and prior experience with the flute. At the first lesson, I inspect the flute to ensure it is working properly while discussing the student's goals. We then dive into learning! By the end of the first lesson, the student will walk away with new skills and a plan to reinforce the learning during the following week.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my bachelor's degree and teaching credential from California State University Long Beach. I have taught flute lessons for over 30 years and have taught band and orchestra in the classroom.
I don't think I'll ever stop learning! I frequently attend flute masterclasses and conventions to learn from the best in the industry. I am a member of several professional organizations that hold conventions/classes each year.
