If I could give Greg and Do it RIght Home Inspection more than five stars, I would. I could go on and on about what a great job he did for me and my home inspection. I reached out to get several quotes for a pre-listing home inspection on Saturday. Greg’s quote came in around the middle. He wasn’t the cheapest, but he wasn’t the most expensive. However, he was the first one to respond to my request, and the easiest to get a hold of after his quote came in. I followed up with Greg on Monday, and my appointment was set almost immediately for the very next morning. I asked him in our initial phone conversation about how long the inspection would take. He said that a home my size would take about an hour and half. He showed up right on time the following morning, and true to his word, finished everything in about an hour and half. I know what he was doing for the entire time because he had me follow him everywhere around the house, and told me exactly what he was looking for and what he was doing. HERE’S the BEST PART, LADIES! He never once talked down to me about his findings, and waited until I asked before he explained concepts I didn’t understand. I did not feel condescended to at all. Even when my male roommate and my boyfriend made an appearance about ¾ of the way through everything, he made sure ALL of his comments on what and how to fix things were addressed TO ME, the person who had requested the inspection. This has NEVER been my experience when hiring this kind of service. I’m used to “good ol’ boys” who talk down to me, and wasn’t expecting anything different from Greg. It’s such a small thing to most people, but it meant the ABSOLUTE WORLD to me. Greg also went out of his way to help me, as a homeowner, to see the value in my home. I was under a lot of stress about getting ready to sell my house. It is almost 100 years old, and I feel like I have a lot of work to do in order to sell it. Greg made sure I saw the value of my home as it is right now. He gave me a verbal estimate for the amount of work I would need to do to repair parts of the house, and then told me that even with those needed repairs, my house was “historic,” and in good condition for its age. That simple comment went a long way toward easing my anxiety. THEN HE FINISHED THE REPORT IN THE SAME DAY! This has never happened for me before. I am beyond grateful for his expediency, and his dedication to finishing my job as quickly as possible. The hardest part of selling a house is the excruciating wait for every little thing. I didn’t have to wait for Greg at all. I am going to be looking for a new home in the near future, and I’m calling Greg for that inspection as well. He is a true professional, and a gem of a guy! I give ALL OF THE STARS to Do it Right Home Inspection!

We are an active-duty military family buying a house out of state without seeing it in person. Our realtor gave us some options for home inspectors, and we decided to go with Do it Right Home inspections because they seemed to be a smaller organization. Due to previous home-buying experiences, we wanted to deal with a more personal and intimate organization. We communicated with Greg Amos directly, and all of our home inspection needs were met; he provided references for other repair trades and although not part of a typical home inspection, he could inspect other portions of the home we requested. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Prices are listed on website. Mostly, they are standard rates for inspection services in the surrounding areas near or in San Antonio, TX but I do offer price matching with any competitor and provide special promotions. Call for commercial and specialty inspections like A La Carte in which customers can have an aspect of their home inspected vs. whole house. 10% discount for Veterans and Senior citizens upon request.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always reach out and contact a client immediately after being notified of their interests and needs. Once I am able to have a conversation with them and they agree to move forward, we set up an inspection appointment. Customer also has the option to place an order online. Customer will then be sent a pre-inspection agreement link via text/email. Once signed, my system will provide them periodic notifications up to the day of inspection. I always welcome a customer to attend the inspection to answer any questions they may have about their property. After the inspection they will be given a well-analyzed report with pictures for a break down of the discovered findings. My goal is always to not just point out problems and issues but offer solutions to help correct any discrepancies and as mentioned beforehand, help advise how to reduce repair cost if needed or is possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began working as a young man out of high school in an engineering hull of a naval ship (basically a power plant) troubleshooting and repairing components of electricity, mechanics, HVACs, and conducting safety inspections. Later in life I was a Safety Officer for a couple of years to a military installation, conducting regular building inspections (OSHA certified at the time) while managing hazardous material for aviation squadrons. Outside the public sector I ran a business in landscaping and renovated a true fixer upper home from the ground up while learning common practices of repair along with proper adherence to code regulations. Today I am a fully licensed Professional Inspector in Texas and confident to evaluate a home and if hired, you get over 20 years of closely related experience in ensuring your home is properly assessed and findings are clearly reported to you.
