I have been a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) member of the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) for 40 years and perform tuning, repairs, and regulation services on all types of pianos. I have a Music Education degree and have taught music also. My fee for tuning is usually $100 not including mileage, or service call.
Piano service work enables me to meet many interesting people. Tuning pianos is an art which is in short supply in rural areas, and I enjoy knowing that I am helping to fill lives with musical entertainment.

Bill did a wonderful job tuning my piano. It had been a very long time since its last tuning, and now it sounds wonderful. Bill is very pleasant and it was a joy to listen to him "check" the piano once he was finished tuning.

Bill Yick is a very sweet man. He worked hard on my old piano and he did not leave until it was sounding correct. At the end he even played some beautiful tunes for us. I really recommend him.

I really miss having Bill available to keep my side-by-side studio pianostuned to each other. He had to use a state-of-the-art tuning instrument, which took longer, but he always made them match. And I always felt I could trust him to be in the house without me, if I had to leave before he was finished. He also introduced me to other piano teachers in my area by inviting me to a music club in which he actively participated by singing, playing his cello, and assisting with club projects. I did find his jokes to be a little corny, but I was never a joking type of person.

Piano tuning is usually $175 unless it is out of my normal service area.

Typically, the customer calls me for an appointment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 40 years as a Registered Piano Technician with the PTG (Piano Technicians Guild). The three tests which PTG administers, tuning, technical, and written have qualified me as an RPT, Registered Piano Technician. eI have a degree in Music Education, and was formerly a public school music teacher.
