We have the time to use spar varnish, that when properly applied and allowed to cure, will significantly outlast other finishes under the same conditions. The restoration process uses chemicals that produce vapors as they dry. Our in-shop service keeps these allergenic vapors out of your home. The leaded glass on my entryway door was in need of repair. Removal of the glass revealed damage to the wood door and frame. Marvin of RYD determined the necessary repairs to properly fix the damage. All work was of high quality, including 1. removal and replacement of the doors 2. threshold /weather strip replacement and 3. re-staining and sealing. I especially appreciated that RYD worked with the glass company (Firebird) allowing the repaired panes to be installed at the RYD workshop. RYD used a marine varnish seal, so I am expecting the doors to hold up well in the Houston heat. I truly appreciate the pride of the craftsmen who worked on my project. Attached are pictures of the doors in progress, but nearly finished.

Beautiful restoration; professional service. My door had damaged moulding. I could not find a match anywhere and so could not repair it myself. Other door services could only refinish, not repair. Restore Your Door replaced the moulding with a perfect match and did a beautiful refinish. Definitely worth sending the door out to have it done right ... those in-your-driveway finishes don't last a year in the Texas sun.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Please inquire about the type of finish they will be using for your door. Generally... the longer the finish takes to dry the more flexible and durable it will be. Quick drying finishes, tend to produce a hard, brittle coating and the have a shorter life expectancy in an exterior application. For exterior doors that are in direct sunlight with heavy UV rays, a medium-oil Spar Varnish is recommended. When properly applied and allowed to cure it will significantly outlast a Polyurethane finish under the same conditions. Restore Your Door uses a premium quality UV resistant Spar Varnish.
