Johan Salvador Tavares is a photographer and digital artist born and raised between the Dominican Republic and New York City. He graduated with honors from the High School of Art and design, later he attended New York City Technical college where he pursued his passion for typography and graphic design. Later he continued his visual communication studies at the Katherine Gibbs institute, and finally the School of Visual Arts, where he solidified his passion for lighting and photography. In his earlier professional career Johan's work lead him to the fashion industries where he worked with American made Fashion giants, Seven for all mankind, Elizabeth and James, LaRok, Patterson J Kincaid, and many other fashion industry giants.
His commitment to commercial photography its stronger today, and now he produces product photography images for Cinc a Sept, Likely, La Bella Figura Beauty, and Joe's Jean. His commercial photography work has been featured in Vogue Netherlands, Vogue Knitting, Wellness Magazine, Bello Magazine, Women's Wear Daily among others. He resides in Dallas TX where he operates a product photography and digital graphic studio. His free times is usually always spent gardening and watering his ever growing plant collection.

Overall, my experience went well. I hired Johan Tavares to take my headshotphotos. He went above and beyond. He created such a plesant enviornment and was very easygoing and reasonable with me. I had a great time and i would recommend him to anyone in need of a talented photographer.

I booked Johan to shoot something that was very important to me and to say he delivered would be an understatement! He was amazing! He was kind, professional, efficient and creative! Hands down he was by far the best photographer I have ever worked with. The pictures were absolutely gorgeous with no retouching needed. We do not live in the area so we came from out of state for our event and I could honestly say if I ever have another event that I hold dear I would pay for him to come to me. He is worth every dollar. I highly recommend him.

Having never had a professional photo done, I was apprehensive but I needed a professional photo for my LinkedIn profile. I hired Johan Tavares to take my photograph. He was outstanding. He was informative, creative, patient and instructive walking me through each step. He definitely went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations and gave me a ton of photos I could use for my profile as well as others I can use for family gifts. My prices are set for the following.

For Weddings, lookbooks, & Product photography prices vary depending on the complexity of the project.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to first have a chat on the phone to start the process, this will help me think in more detail and conceptualize an idea. I like to do follow ups depending on the type of project. If its a fashion catalog, planning usually starts months or weeks in advance and the communication channels are always flowing between me and the client. If its headshots then the process is more direct.
