About this pro

How does your business stand out?

I am able to communicate with anyone at any level. I tutor 1st grade students to graduate level students in mathematics. My approach utilizes colors, drawings, and memorization techniques. I let my students DO the work and I coach them.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love to HELP people. I do not like it when someone "feels" like they can not do the work. I believe that if you put your mind to it, you can do ANYTHING!

Carlos has helped me in both my college chemistry classes and has helped me get A+ in them! He is by far the best tutor ever, he is so helpful and makes everything so simple! I recommend Carlos to everyone that needs help.

Thank you, Taylor. I enjoyed tutoring you in college chemistry I. I'm confident you will conquer college chemistry II as well!

Mr. Carlos is one of the few who has been able to stay patient with me because of my ADHD which prohibits me from being concentrated very long but with his innovative notes and teaching methods he's been able to take a guy who knows nothing about college math and give him the knowledge to go into college algebra

Chris, you have certainly come a long way since I was your instructor in GED courses. You did you're part and now you're in College Algebra. I'm proud of your achievements, and I look forward to continuing helping you in your future college math classes!

Carlos is the best tutor I've ever had. He tutored both of my older sisters and I all the way through high school. I recommended him to a lot of my school friends and every one of them can say the exact same thing.

Thanks Justis! I've known you since were about 3 years old! My how the time has passed since then. I wish you all the best in college and in your future career!

Not only did Mr. Carlos help me tremendously in AP calculus in high school but he also helped me once I got to college with my math courses. The thing I love most about him however, is not his crazy genius math skills but he actually takes the time to care for each of his students. When going through a very hard time senior year Mr. Carlos was there for guidance and Godly advice. Not many tutors do that or even attend your graduation like he did for me.

Great at explaining material. Great at understanding your point of view and how to break down the information in a way you can grasp it. Even better person. Highly recommended.

Carlos helped my student with math for many years. From elementary age through college Algebra, Carlos was a constant and helped him to be successful. We have referred him to several family members and friends. He's the best!

Ms Bdub, I certainly appreciate your review. I can't believe how the time has flown! I remember working with your student in the summers in the math review classes I taught at a local college. Even now, college has been a while since I assisted your student with college algebra. Again, I want to give you a heartfelt thanks for allowing me to teach your student for so many years!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Short term: $55/hr The day you call is the day the appointment is made. Long term: $45/hr Once your initial session is over, you decide to make a long term commitment. That is, we find a consistent/same time each week and that spot is reserved. You are only allowed to cancel one/1 time per academic semester due to an EMERGENCY. Emergencies are, deaths in the family, illnesses that keep you from work or school (a doctor's excuse may be necessary). You MUST PAY for the reservation of your time if you cancel in excess of 1 time per semester. Other restrictions apply.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I currently teach. However, I'm constantly reading journals and keeping up with technology so that I can stay fresh and "cutting-edged."
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I didn't. I came from restaurants when I was 18. My boss saw the potential in me and fired me a year later when I was well making over minimum wage. He didn't want me to waste away "in the back." I began college at 19, impressed a professor with his PhD a year later, and he referred me to the college learning center. It was then that I discovered my gift to teach.
What types of customers have you worked with?
1. Help them discover what type of learner they are: visual, haptic, auditory, etc. 2. Give them very colorful notes and memorization techniques to remember what they've learned. 3. Review what they've learned in class and ask them if they understood what their teacher was trying to get across 4. Reteach if necessary and look forward to what's coming up so they will be ready
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I'm currently teaching GED students and they have discovered that they are NOT the "rejects" they thought they were. It was so wonderful that no one "quit" my class. They were eager to learn and I'm sure many of them will do well on the GED test.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Learning is a sacrifice. It may not make sense now, but if you continue your pursuit and do whatever it takes, the rewards will be amazing! It has been said, "My people perish for a lack of knowledge/understanding."
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
You can do what you love and still make a living for your family.
