We began taking riding lessons with Mattea in February 2011. When we began we knew absolutely nothing about horses or how to ride. We had just bought horses and one was only green broke. With our lack of knowledge we did not fully understand what “green broke” meant and we were unable to do much with the horse. Mattea trained the horse and when we got him back he was a totally different horse. It was amazing how much he had changed. During the time Mattea was training him she allowed us to use one of her horses to continue our training. We have also come a long way in our knowledge and riding ability since beginning our lessons. I can be very “airheaded” and to most instructors that would be quite frustrating. Mattea has always had patience with me and never shown any frustration. Even though she is very professional, we still have a great time when we are around her. She has a wonderful sense of humor and she is very easy to talk to. She has never made us feel stupid or beneath her. She is not one that watches the clock and stops the lesson as soon as the time up. If we are having problems with something she will get us to a positive point before ending the lesson. Even though Mattea is young, her knowledge of horses and riding is immeasurable. She has also taught us quite a lot about the health and upkeep of horses. After each lesson we feel we have gained another step in our riding ability and we are left eager to learn more. I cannot say enough good about Mattea and her teaching ability. She is a wonderful person who is fun to be around and who has the wisdom and knowledge of someone much older than her. I would recommend Mattea to anyone, no matter what their age or riding ability is.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Finding a trainer you are comfortable with is key in your success as a rider. Your lessons should be about YOUR goals and YOURE HORSES needs, not the trainer’s objectives. Also it’s great to work hard at something but you should also enjoy what you are doing so find someone who makes your experience fun.
