Introduction

My experience is varied. While my professional life focused on writing, I did so for a wide variety of clients including a U.S. Congressman, electric utilities, airlines, higher education, healthcare, textbook publishers and much more. In addition, I have done so nationwide. I believe you should learn something new every day. As a freelance writer and public relations professional, I get to do just that. Through talking with clients, researching markets, issues, and targets, and developing collateral materials, I am constantly learning.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
My line of work seems to have chosen me. I noted a small advertisement on a bulletin board in college for an intern in the Office of College Communications in 1990 and have been working in public relations ever since. In 1992, I again saw a very small advertisement for a writer with The Houston Chronicle "This Week." A few years later, a U.S. Congressman came across my resume and hired me as Communications Director. Through all of these opportunities I have gotten to do what I love.
