FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In the IT field, it is a continious learning curve, because what you learn today will be obsolete in a few years. So I am always updating my skillset by adding new IT skills to my portfolio of skills. For instance I have been on a Google training course to become a Google specialist to be able to advise on and promote Google produvts and services. I am a Microsoft Certified Partner so I can advise on all the latest software that Microsoft produces. When it comes to hardware, spec sheets and training videos keep me abreast of the differences and advantages of one product over another. It is surprising just how much money a customer can save just by having a short 1 hour consultation with me.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure that the person who is going to come to your premises is qualified or experienced, some people just look for qualifications, these can be incorrectly stated or passed without the true knowledge, nothing beats experience, so the longer the I.T person has experience in the related I.T field, shows that they must be able to do the job, otherwise they would not have been employed in that position for so long, but a 20 year old can pass an exam and get a qualification, but what is there experience. Just think back to school, did you cram for exams and just pass and then forgot about it after you qualified?
