My husband and I recently went to Fort Worth on a Saturday. We went to the Stockyards and Stable horseback riding, and found that they were very unorganized. Nobody seemed to know what was going on, and whether or not anyone would be available to take us on the trail ride. Once we were told we would be going on the trail in 15 minutes, then told 45 min, then told over an hour wait. When we did get our horses, the guide did not speak to us, he didn't get us acquainted with our horses, or ask us what our comfort level was, or even introduce himself. He just brought us the horses, and we got on, and he took off. I knew immediately, that my horse did NOT want to participate. She refused to move and tried to go back into the stables. The guide didn't even notice that my horse was refusing to move. When he came back, he rudely told me that I needed to kick her harder (I've ridden horses MANY times, and know how to handle a horse). Throughout the entire ride, the horse did not cooperate. She didn't go where asked, would stop or refuse to go. She was skiddish of other people on the trail, dogs and bikes. The guide never tried to talk me through it, he just texted on his phone the entire time, and would rudely bark commands to me on what I was doing wrong. I do not blame the horse, she clearly was not in the right frame of mind, but the guide was rude, inattentive, yelled at me, and even scared me with his attitude. My husband was VERY upset at the way the guide treated me, and the fact that he didn't even pay attention to us. He was on his phone, and wouldn't even notice when my horse was throwing a fit. At one point, the guide rudely yelled at me, "Have you never ridden a horse before?" I actually grew up on a farm, and know my way around horses. When you ride a horse that you don't know anything about, it is much different. Plus, the horse didn't want to cooperate. Besides the fact that I am familiar with horses, most people who are willing to pay $100 to ride a horse for an hour, don't own horses at the time. They are paying for the experience and chance to do so. In my opinion, and as many times as I've ridden horses, this was the worst experience and a waste of $100. Again, I do not blame the horse, but the rude, inattentive, unprofessional staff. I would never recommend this experience to anyone!

I loved riding horses on the trials! Personally, I liked that our guide wasn't all up in our converstatiobs we were having so it gave me time to talk to my aunt and enjoy the riding. The first time I went I rode Princess I think and that was loads of fun. I loved it so much that I begged to go back and rode Aero my second time. The best part was that you weren't cramped up in the woods hitting all the trees with your head, we rode along the river on a dirt path and there was so much room that our guide would let us trot and my aunt and I had races with the horses. I would say it was definitely the best trial ride I have ever done and the stable was SO big and clean. I enjoyed petting all the horses in the stalls. The dogs in the barn are funny too when they run across the board above your head, looking down at the stalls. I can't remember the horses name but we got to pet a HUGE black perchron and he was the sweetest thing! I can't wait to go visit my aunt and go horse riding with her at Stockyard Stables. It's totally worth it!

Loved every minute of the time we spent here. People working here are very kind and didn't mind answering our questions. The animals and stables themselves are exceptionally clean and well maintained. We went on one of their trail rides and had a great time! This is definitely the place to bring your whole family!
