Tracie is FANTASTIC! I'm so glad we found each other. She is the best vocal teacher I've ever had. She tells it like it is and gives great constructive criticism. I've been going to Tracie for a few weeks now and already see a big difference in my singing. I wish I'd found her years ago, but I really look forward to growing with her now. If you have the chance to take lessons with her DO IT! You will not be disappointed. She is great for pre professionals, professionals, musical theater or whatever your singing goals maybe. Tracie won't just help you grow as a singer but will help you grow as a person too if you let her.

From the age of 10, I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano. As a mom, I offered piano classes to both of my daughters. My youngest took piano for years with Stephanie at Heavenly Sounds Studio. When she reached an advanced level playing classical piano, Stephanie accommodated her by providing another instructor at that level. As an adult and Also now a grandmother, I am a student of Stephanie's at Heavenly Sounds Studio and I am already playing c chords and f chords after only four months of 30-minute, weekly lessons. Stephanie is patient and very professional. Her talent and love for teaching music shines through with each lesson! I am enjoying every minute of the learning experience. Stephanie is an awesome piano teacher!

Needless to say Paul being a very talented singer himself helps him be a better instructor. He challenges you to try and reach the right levels/bars he expects you to. He is patient which is definitely a virtue in this case.

Theodore is a fabulous teacher. He did a fantastic job working with my voice and developing my range and technique in a safe and comfortable manner. I came out of his first lessons amazed at what my voice could actually do. He is a great technician and vocal coach. He successfully coached me through a recital and auditions to graduate school for a masters in voice. We really dug in and did some good work during our lessons. I will miss having him as my teacher while I am in school but hope to come back to him in the future as my career develops. I highly recommend Theodor Rulfs for anyone just learning to sing to advanced singers needing some coaching. You'll be in good hands.

I'm Tim's father so of course I'm a little biased ! Tim has been singing (since he was big enough to stand on a stool) , he and 3 others formed their own "Gospel Quartet" and sang @ local churches etc, (sang with and wrote songs) copyrighted cassette tapes with the "LEESIDE SINGERS" , he as you can see has acquired much recognition and respect & has exceptional talent and skills with the instruments as well as voice. While in Indiana he performed with the "Hoosier Hillbillys" and many other performances. To paraphrase another Father much more esteemed than I: Tim is my son in whom I am well pleased. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so" I say so!

Anthony was a pleasure to work with ... Magen was outstanding. I didn't get a chance to meet her ... I was with the wedding party and when I walked into the church ... well that was the only time I heard her play. I could watch and listen to her for hours .... Megan .... you went with the flow .. and when the Leah the bride took a little too long coming into the church, you handled it ... I think you had to play the same entry 3 times :) sorrry. But it worked. You looked and sounded awesome and I would recommend you every/any time. Thank you .... From Michigan to Texas .... Love ya'all.

It was a privilege getting to work with the Trials. They showed up 2 hours before their schedule time to perform to make sure everything was setup properly and ready to go. The crowd loved their songs and Andrew (the lead singer) is beyond talented. Look forward to using them for our next event!!

I have been singing and performing since the age of 2. I sing a variety of music, from pop, gospel, jazz, and oldies, but my favorite is country and probably what my voice sounds best at. I have had opportunities to sing all over East Texas and have even gotten to the top 60 of Season 9 of American Idol and a final contestant for X-Factor before the live shows. I love performing and would love to help for entertainment at any event!

I sing praise and worship, motown, jazz, big band, and some pop. I will also sing the national anthem. I'm willing to learn songs for any events.

I like to sing for people, and I want to be famous one day because I would love to see myself on the TV screen.

I can sing as the background and lead. I offer vocal coaching, voice placements and some directing. I have sung with an international recording artist for 15 years and released my single on April 2014.

I am a licensed wedding officiant. I also can perform as a vocalist or a keyboardist (or both) for wedding ceremonies or live entertainment for wedding receptions or parties.

Joshua Mather is a young, DFW based singer and songwriter. With a sound of the same vein as Rob Thomas, Tom Petty or Keith Urban, Joshua stumbled upon his voice in his early teens, not unlike many startup musicians, in his garage. Writing songs at 14 and performing live by 17, Joshua has since abandoned the garage for everything, from rock clubs to coffee houses. Joshua released his first full-length album entitled Neverland with the group Broka's Bliss in 2008, and is set to release a self-titled EP this summer. The disc is comprised of 5 smart, well-crafted and melodic, but driven songs Joshua feels represent him at his best. With his head up and moving forward, this performer's sights are set on writing, recording and reaching the widest audience possible.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
