I needed someone quickly to fix a door in our older Hyde Park home that wouldn't latch, and I was impressed from start to finish. He showed up exactly when he said he would, which mattered since this was time sensitive.
He took the time to figure out what was actually wrong instead of just tightening the hinges again. He corrected the strike properly, adjusted the hinges so the fix would last, and serviced the original mortise lock rather than replacing it. Keeping the period hardware was important to me, and he respected that completely. The door now latches smoothly every time, and the deadbolt above it engages cleanly too.
The price was very fair for the quality and care of the work. If you have an older home with antique hardware, I highly recommend him.

We are very happy with the workmanship that was displayed in our front doorinstallation! David did an excellent job and was also very flexible with scheduling as we waited on our Krosswood front door to arrive from Home Depot. Luckily it worked out perfectly and our front door arrived just a couple hours before our ideal install day and time! It’s hard to find a company anymore where the same person is apart of the process from the initial inquiry process, measurement/quote, to install, and final billing. David was there for it all and it put us at ease to know “what we see is what we get”. You won’t deal with a sales guy who is just there to measure and doesn’t actually know anything about doors!

Dave did a good job on my front door. It’s even and closes tight. Also hauled away the scraps. He gave a great suggestion on a close-out door sale at Home Depot. I was originally going to fix the rot in the back. He got the job on that and helped me get a better door. I’m pleased with the work and suggestions and would hire him again.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Installation prices vary, but very reasonable. Product can also drive up the price (ex. a $300 stock Home Depot door vs. a $2500 custom wood door) so I work with the customer to get the best product at the best price. I typically offer a multi-door discount as well.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I determine how extensive the project will be, as well as find out how much help the customer will need with product selection.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed an OSHA 10 course and am lead certified. I’ve worked around construction my whole life, specifically doors since I was 15.
