Our experience with Dawn could not have been better! She contacted me right away and spent a great deal of time on the phone with me, troubleshooting what could have caused our dog’s sudden refusal to go up the stairs. She recommended that I have a vet check him out before starting training, which I would not have thought to do. Once I called her with the all clear from the vet, she arranged to come to our home that weekend! She spent at least an hour with us, just getting to know our dog. She worked with him quite a bit at that first visit too, and gave us super helpful advice on how to work with him independently. She was so kind and used only positive reinforcement when working with him. He loved her! Flash forward and just three weeks later, using the techniques she taught us, the problem was completely solved. He’s going up and down the stairs without any hesitation, and more importantly, he is able to join us whenever we’re all upstairs. I can’t thank Dawn enough. Highly recommend!!Jan 2, 2020Verified

Dawn was a confident and positive person and had many really good ideas to help Brunzy with his severe separation anxiety. We had some communication issues but she's responded with care and concern. I'm sure the breakdown was on both our sides. Anyway, most of all, Dawn's optimistic and hopeful attitude about Brunzy did a lot to restore my confidence that his painful anxiety and panic will be responsive to continued positive behavioral training and, of course, lots of love. I think I gained a lot from our session and recommend her highly.Jun 4, 2019Verified
Dawn has a great understanding of dogs. So sweet with my labs. Showed up on time, stayed late, and has been in touch with me since our initial training to check on my dog. She sends tips and is really invested in how well my dogs do.Aug 24, 2018Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We offer a consultation discount to Thumbtack customers! Please note that Thumbtack offers the option for potential clients to send automated inquiries like “What is your availability?” vs sending a direct/personal message to a pro. Unfortunately, due to some of the internal Thumbtack processes associated with automated inquiries, we typically do not respond to automated communications. So sorry for any inconvenience. Please send us a personal message. We love talking with potential clients about training and dogs!!!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? For dog obedience training, we start the process with a phone discussion about your dog's specific behaviors. After the phone conversation, there is required paperwork to complete before we get started. As soon as the paperwork is complete, we schedule the initial consultation! In the consultation, we discuss your training goals and choose the package that is best suited for your needs. For pet sitting, there is an initial meet and greet with pet parents. In the meet and greet, you meet the sitter and have an opportunity to ask questions about the service. Current vaccination records are required for both training and pet sitting.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a certified dog obedience instructor through the Animal Behavior College. In addition, I volunteer as often as possible at a no-kill shelter that saves dogs and cats that other shelters would deem as not appropriate for adoption. I work with and observe trainers that have been successful turning around difficult behavior issues such as serious aggression, reactivity, and anxiety issues.
