Introduction: I have a degree in psychology and am certified in several areas: Christian Life Coach, Youth, Parent, & Family Coaching, Wellness Coaching, and General Life Coaching. My personal life experiences and professions allow me to share my personal insight while coaching clients. After all - in order to truly empathize with clients - personal experience is a huge plus. Vanessa has helped me realise that I have a lot more going for me than I give myself credit for. I didn't believe I had any opportunities in life and I was truly stuck in a rut both emotionally and physically. I struggled to find the time for the coaching sessions and Vanessa was extremely supportive and flexible and helped me make small changes to organise my life in a way that I had control over. In just a few sessions I have established the things I want most to achieve and can better visualise how to get there. Changes have been set in motion and I am already seeing results. My friends are wanting to spend more time with me as I have more energy and more positive experiences to share with them. I highly recommend her services for anyone wanting help progressing career or personal goals (or both)

My experience so far with Vanessa has been awesome. I am 25 and have worked with several therapists over the last 10 years, and I feel like I have gotten more out of my work with Vanessa than I have with all the therapists put together. My toolbox is already full of tools that I can use to improve my overall quality of life. We work over the phone, which is so convenient. Who would've thought? I was weary about it at first, but it really makes no difference. I can talk to her over my lunch hour, and not take a ton of time out of my day to commute, sit in traffic, etc. She has me fill out a series of questions before each conversation, covering the events of the past week, what I would like to improve on, what I accomplished/didn't accomplish, opportunities I have, high points/low points, etc. This is such a good way to prepare for a conversation, especially for someone like me, who tends to forget the past week's events. I can look back in my journal and make sure I covered everything, which allows us to use our time together usefully, versus me trying to remember everything. It gives her a chance to come prepared with insight and a good idea as to what my past week has looked like. Also, this is great to have on hand myself, so I can look back several weeks and see how I've progressed. After our conversation, she will send me a document outlining what we talked about, several suggestions, things to remember, suggestions on routines, etc. Again, for someone who struggles to remember, this is a great tool to have because I reference it ALL THE TIME. I literally carry it around in my purse. Other than than, she is extremely easy to talk to, communicate with, flexible and understanding with scheduling sessions, and she just understands me. She goes above and beyond, never makes me feel like crap, but is such a motivator. She will call me out if I am talking down on myself, especially since self-esteem and positive thinking is so important in being happy/successful in life. I would 100% recommend Vanessa! You will not be disappointed :-)

FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always continuing education. There are constantly new theories and new strategies that come to light because human behavior is ever changing and we learn new things all the time! I take courses from The World Institute of Coaching - and keep up with what the ICF (International Coach Federation) requests as far as continuing education.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I finished my BS in Psychology while I had 2 young kids at home and a husband that was gone often for work. I grew up as a "little therapist" - always being objective and always seeking ways to bring peace to a family in turmoil. It's in my blood to help people. I find it very important to know and understand who we are (from who we were) and then use our past to propel us into the future. I chose Life Coaching over becoming a Psychologist because of the focus on the present and the future and on positive psychology. I have coached several tball teams - (amazing experience) - and I've taught kickboxing classes - and been a Juvenile Case manager - and coaching comes natural to me - I want people to WANT to improve themselves - and I love being right there to cheer them on with encouraging means to get there.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Family communication coaching (husband/wife) (parents/teens). Weight management coaching (a accountability source for those that give up and quit working out and eating right after a month or so of trying...) Loss/Divorce Recovery (clients that are stuck mourning the loss of someone - either physically or emotionally)
