FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Basically, I try to make my services as affordable as I can without losing my shirt!! Lol I am of the opinion if you make it affordable, you are more likely to get a new client in your rotation, opposed to over charging a client and seeing them once.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got my formal training from Aussie pet mobile, which explained the basics, how to use the equipment etc. From there, a groomer could excel to a 2nd level trainer position, if the owner of the franchise saw them suitable. The prerequisites for this position were 50 before and after pictures and 10 letters of recommendation from clients. Unbeknownst to me, once this was completed, it was sent to the "founding fathers" and from there, 15 of the top groomers from across the United States were chosen. I am proud to say, I was one of them. Being a 2nd level trainer allowed me to train new groomers from all over the world that were from up and coming franchises. It was a great opportunity as well as a great honor
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Well , I've always had a love for animals and God knows I have always had quite a menagerie , however the idea of becomi g a groomer never crossed my mind until I moved to riverside cnty from San Diego and jobs in the field of Accounting weren't exactly plentiful! I found a job listing that didn't get into great detail, but it mentioned working with animals and training was available. That was enough for me! I met with my future boss for an interview and we clicked and I became her 2nd employee of her newly forming franchise, and her oldest when she sold the franchise 4 years later.
