I have over 20 years professional playing experience AND I am degreed and certified in Music Education and have been teaching music K-6th for 15 years. I've also been teaching privately for over 20 years. My approach is very comprehensive and I teach students to play by ear as well as reading the notes. I am an award winning teacher as well as a state clinician and believe in laughter and having a good time learning music. I enjoy teaching folks until I teach myself out of a job and I have to send them to more advanced teachers. It's a great feeling.

Mr. Herod has a deep understanding of music theory and how to relate it to his students. He goes beyond teaching them to read music and teaches them how to be musicians. My daughter took guitar and voice lessons for over 3 years, and my son took percussion. Mr. Herod understands how to instruct students, he instills confidence and always treats them with respect.

Patient with the student. Positive but firm manner in presenting areas needing improvement. Encouraging, gives student some time to play for fun with instructor which helps student see potential. Knowledgeable in music theory and technique.

Carl Herod has been an exceptional music teacher to my two sons for the past four years. Beginning with piano lessons and expanding into percussion and guitar lessons, we spend an hour a week with Carl and he packs our time with quality learning. He brings knowledge and expertise to MANY aspects of music. The boys learn rudiments and technical theory, but also improvisation and ear training. His teaching style is laid back and relaxed. He responds equally well to my older "by the book" son and my second "more eccentric" son and brings out their love of learning with varied methods of instruction.I anticipate continuing our teacher/student relationship with Carl for the next five years and I am confident that my boys will have a life-long love of music in large part because of Carl.

Carl Herod is definitely a one of a kind music teacher! We have been a client for over 6 years. He has taught one son to play the drums in almost any setting and our other son is now learning the bass guitar and after just 4 weeks of lessons he is now playing in a local church praise band. Mr. Herods methods are easy to understand and learn and he always keeps the experience fun. He is always full of support and encouragement for his students, child or adult. Mr. Herod will teach to your abilities and music knowledge. If you practice and work hard he will advance your music abilities very quickly. Taking music lessons with Mr. Herod fun, productive and in aspects a unique experience!

CARL IS AN AWESOME TEACHER/INSTRUCTOR. HAD HIM AS A PIANO TEACHER AND HAD SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE AND PATIENCE WITH ME. WISH I HAD MORE TIME IN MY SCHEDULE TO CONTINUE WITH THE LESSONS. HE'S NOT ONLY GREAT WITH THE PIANO IT'S WITH MANY INSTRUMENTS. GREAT PERSON

I was born in a musical family and knew I would be a musician my whole life. I began playing drums in church at around 5 or 6 six years old.
