Rachel at BelleCreek Dog Training Center was so great with our Boston Terrier. She was friendly, prompt, has a great facility, and was patient with our dog. We would definitely go back!

Not very satisfied with our experience with Bellecreek. I don't feel that Rachel's heart was in to training my dog. I think possibly some personal issues took her focus away from the task at hand (lost passport, mother in law passing, etc.). She did give me a partial refund, but I didn't think it was enough. She accomplished about only half of what we discussed. One of the major items I needed my dog to be trained on was never even really addressed.
Bellecreek Dog Training Center's reply
Alas, your dog wasn't socialized by the breeder, nor by you prior to her arrival here. We had discussed that the socialization window closes at 16 weeks, but I got her after that, so the poor dog was terrified, and simply wouldn't move. I spent hours and hours with her just to get her to walk on leash. I communicated with you the whole time that the training wasn't going well, but you chose to keep her with me regardless. It was an act of true generosity on my part to give you a refund, especially after I had agreed to train your other dog for free!!! You received that lesson, and your Boston responded wonderfully. BTW, your dog is too young to be House trained, and we never discussed this as a goal!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

While in college, I started competing with my GSD in competitive Obedience, and did very well. We went on to Agility, Flyball, and other sports. Centrally, I was able to quit my Registered Dietitian job, and open my Dog Training Center. I'm now a happy, Full-Time trainer.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Seek a trainer who is good with people AND dogs. A trainer should be well educated, preferably with at least a Bachelor's degree. Classes should include psychology courses. A knowledge of operant conditioning and the science of positive reinforcement is essential.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Run a mile from trainers who use shock collars, or who choke, scare, or cause pain to dogs, in the name of training.
