The Astonishing Mr. Pitts

I have been entertaining since childhood, and I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important realization came to me several years ago, after I had been performing for some time. The realization was this: When it comes to entertaining families, and especially children, it's NOT ABOUT ME. Sure, I'm up there on stage (or maybe just in front of the fireplace) and I'm doing my show, and we're laughing and having fun, but when comes right down to it, it's not about me and my show. It's about the kids, it's about making sure they have a great time! We're making a memory, and that has to be my first priority. Keeping focused on the kids, the audience, and the birthday mom or event planner, making sure their experience is fun and stress free, means I'm doing the MOST important thing; making my audience and the person who hired me to entertain them, FEEL GOOD. We're making memories here, let's make it special! Honestly, and this might sound cliche, but it's really true, I LOVE making people laugh. There's nothing else that really compares. I look out into the audience and see little kids, older siblings, parents and grandchildren laughing at the same thing, and that is just an amazing thing for me!
