About
I love watching students grow and develop. As their self defense skills develop, there is also natural growth in confidence, flexibility, endurance, overall fitness, leadership ability, strength, and a spiritual awareness. It doesn't get too much more rewarding then seeing kids unsure of themselves, grow into confident and self assured individuals evidencing maturity and leadership.

My 11 year old daughter has been with MA Refinery for about 1.5 years. Kids learn self defense moves, have fun and get a great workout. Blended MA styles with basic techniques include choke hold release, wrist grab release, blocks (upper/lower body), punches/kicks. Advanced students include lessons in judo throws and spinning kicks. Sensei Frank is really good with kids, firm but not scary. Atmosphere is informal and relaxed. Some contact sparring. Minimal emphasis on competition. Encourages good sportsmanship and respect. Good class for basic self defense skills. My kid always enjoys the class.

We have been in the Martial Arts Refinery classes for years now and have experienced the best, most comprehensive karate teaching. Frank is very skilled, knowledgeable and patient with children. He makes martial arts an achievable success for anyone. I highly recommend taking his classes to all my friends and neighbors.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Try it out some of the classes you will be taking before signing any contracts. (Don't imagine that group lessons will be like introductory private lessons). Most studios will offer you a free week or more. Take advantage of it! If you like your experience check out the fine print in the contract and make sure that you can get out if your injured or move.
