I sought out a coach to help me learn how to stick to a budget and get my spending under control. I spoke with Terri at Living Life, and within 30 minutes she helped diagnose the underlying reasons for my compulsive spending and gave me tangible tools to budget my finances and stay accountable. Her fee was very reasonable for what I feel like I gained from our session (which also includes a follow-up, check-in conversation in a couple months). I would highly recommend Living Life.

I would like to take this opportunity to let others know about the work Terri Beck has done with my daughter as her Life Coach. My daughter was totally independent and lived 4 years on her own in Hawaii. On June 1st 2013 she was a pedestrian hit by a car on South Padre Island. She is my miracle child because I was told she might not make it. She suffered internal injuries, a dissected aorta, broken neck and a traumatic brain injury. She spent 9 months in neuro rehab learning to talk, eat and to use her arms and legs. Since then she has been living in nursing homes relying on others to help her with her activities of daily living. Living in a nursing home at the age of 29 has been difficult at best for all concerned. My daughter suffers not only from short term memory loss but her speech is difficult to understand, she has limited range of motion and little to no fine motor skills. She cannot walk and is in a wheelchair. Involuntary movements called Ataxia make her life even more difficult. She has kept a good attitude but would become extremely agitated and angry when her needs were not met or she could not make herself understood. During these times she would hit, kick or cuss at staff. Her behavior resulted in eviction notices from the facility. We searched for alternatives to nursing homes. Facilities found that could deal with her issues were all private pay or insurance. Our only option with Medicaid as our payor source was always another nursing home. As this continued it became harder to find a nursing home that even wanted to give her a chance. She was sent to Behavior hospitals on three separate occasions. She was placed on psychotropic medications in attempts to control behavioral issues. We found the impulse control center of her brain was damaged. We also were informed that these behaviors are common and to be expected with this type brain injury. As we were being asked to leave the 5th facility we were devastated. It was at this time we found some help in the form of Terri Beck. Through the skills she had as a Life Couch she was willing to help. She began working with my daughter in early December 2016. She began by teaching her how to be aware of signals her body gave her when she became frustrated. Talked to her about ways to be a good resident of the facility. By the end of one month she was working on me as well. Helping me to change my responses and what I told my daughter. Then we made changes to the diet. We bought healthier snacks and eliminated aspartame. We changed to snacks that my daughter could feed herself. We changed to containers that she could open herself. She thrived on the independence this brought. Terri gave her homework and assignments to complete. My daughter beamed at the accomplishment of these task. She stated to me that she felt in control of her actions again. It took a couple of months to make these changes. By February the incidents had dwindled. From February 21,2017 until today May 2, 2017 we have only had one incident and that was caused when I took her home for Easter and let her have Dr Pepper. This caused a urinary tract infection which can cause behavior problems. I was scared that she would have more incidents before we could get the infection diagnosed and medicated. My daughter was able to regain control and we only had the one incident. Terri has taught my daughter how to respond to negative comments from staff in a positive way. So although her needs are still not always met in a timely manner and it remains difficult for others to understand her she manages these problems with different responses. The changes that Terri has assisted us to make have made a remarkable difference. Terri has utilized her skills to teach both my daughter and myself. We are grateful for her abilities and her desire to help. I strongly recommend Terri Beck. Anyone suffering with what life has thrown at them could benefit from her skills. The loving mother, LaWanda (Lou) Ward
