FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying requires all registrants to maintain continuing education in many areas of practice, including but not limited to, boundary construction, case law, mathematics of surveying and professional ethics. I attend seminars and participate in correspondence courses to meet or exceed the Board-specified CEU requirement.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Mortgage & title surveys with existing homes in recorded subdivisions are the most common jobs requested. Acreage boundary surveys, both rural and urban, run a close second. Occasionally a client will request Lot or Tract corners marked and boundary lines staked for the purpose of fence building or line identification. FEMA Elevation Certificates are also ordered at the request of insurance companies or landowners.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Surveying services, properly executed, provide a deliverable product to the client in the form of field work, research and survey plats suitable for recording, title transfer or real estate transaction purposes. Search for a professional who upholds the surveyor ethos, as opposed to one that cuts corners.
