Introduction: Dear prospective student, I am currently in Texas but I do teach online lessons and have found them to work to be quite benificial for both myself and the student. I invite you to at least try a few lessons and see. Teaching harmony, improvisation, rhythm skills, chord voicings. I include videos of myself playing tunes and solos as well as comping. I have also created bass play along accompaniments for most songs and some excercises. My approach is thorough. I also share a multitude of PDFs regarding chords and written solos . Going through different styles such as swing, bossa nova, ballad and more, I pay much attention to your timing and rhythm. I have a masters degree and many studies with private teachers such as Jaki Byard , Clare Fischer, Spud Murphy, Charlie shoemake and Terry Trotter. I can take any age or level. I am patient and also teach regular piano and song writing, harmony and theory. Thankyou

Piano Lessons

Taking lesson's with Tim has been an awesome experience so far! He's a phenomenal teacher. From the first day, he's been tailoring my lessons to match both my skill level and the styles of music that I'm interested in playing (jazz/blues mostly). He's giving me an extremely palatable balance of theory, exercises, and song playing, and I genuinely look forward to sitting down and practicing every day. From scales, to songs, to solos, he has me thinking and working with music in a way that's really improved my understanding and abilities. He also has an amazing ear, and he's been invaluable in pointing out areas of weakness that I can improve upon. He's a phenomenal pianist as well, and I would honestly pay money just to watch him play! I highly recommend Tim!

Piano Lessons

If you are looking to break free from the prison of only being able to read sheet music, Tim can help you. He is clearly very talented and he introduces music theory concepts patiently and methodically. Each lesson builds on the last. He is very professional and responsive. He provides videos to reference and is very helpful in intuitively answering questions about concepts you might be struggling with. I’ve played piano for a number of years without instruction but I can tell that I’ll be much more competent after sticking with his lesson program. The remote lessons are also extremely convenient for people with busy schedules. I highly recommend.

Piano Lessons

About a one month ago, I started taking lessons from Tim. I wanted to learn more about playing jazz on the piano and how to improvise. I have played classical piano for over 10 years, but always wanted to learn how to play jazz and improvise. Thanks to starting with Tim, he has greatly expanded my knowledge, confidence, improvising skills, and music theory just within a month. I highly recommend Tim if you want learn more piano as he has a great amount of knowledge and is very responsive and helpful. I always am looking forward to the next lesson I have with Tim and learning more.

Piano Lessons

Tim has been a great instructor. Prior to him, I spent about 6 months trying to self-teach jazz piano and made almost no progress. After two months of playing with Tim, I can now play a simple improvisation over a 12-bars blues, which is something I was unable to achieve on my own. Tim provides sheet music for exercises to practice and videos of bass lines to practice along with. He also gives guidance on items that he wants you to practice each week so that you can effectively structure your practice sessions.
