About
Study with professional singer and teacher Jan Cornelius at The Lyric Voice Studio of The Woodlands in the Cochran's Crossing Area. With decades of experience teaching classical voice and singing professionally in opera, choral music, art song and oratorio, our teaching approach has proven itself with hundreds of singers who have desired a free, open, resonant vocal approach which maximizes the potential of the voice when it comes to projection, resonance, vowel production, strength and expressiveness.
We are seeking dedicated voice students who are determined to improve their skills and become expressive, technically proficient artists in a nurturing environment. We create a personalized regimen of vocal exercises and we craft a practice routine based on your needs that helps you develop through study of classical vocal production. Our students are generally at least 12 years old through adults, are beginners and professionals alike, and are willing to commit to a regimen of vocal exercises and repertoire geared to strengthen the singing voice and develop range and flexibility to its greatest potential. Our students sing classical, opera, musical theater, and pop and other styles of music which require a "Lyric" sound: smooth, legato and resonant.
We offer weekly studio class and regular performing opportunities.

Ben is an amazing teacher. He has a lot of singing and teaching experience so he is able to help students at any level. He makes his students feel really comfortable from the start. I would highly recommend Ben to anyone looking for lessons, I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Ben is a patient and hugely gifted singing teacher. I had never taken any voice lessons and was feeling pretty shy and self-conscious. He has a way of putting you at ease and bringing your guard down. Ben is a master of his trade and a very experienced teacher. I highly recommend him to everyone old or young, beginner or advanced.

I've been taking weekly lessons with Ben for a couple of months now. In that time I feel like my voice has made a complete transformation from what it was before. My tone, range, and performance ability have improved dramatically, and singing feels easier than it ever has before. Ben is friendly and is great at helping you feel relaxed and comfortable. I am a choir director myself and have taken lessons all through college, but I would recommend LeCor Voice Studio to singers of any level. Ben is a great teacher! He is positive, patient, and pushes you to be better one small step at a time by providing constructive criticism and setting realistic goals for you to achieve. Most importantly, he keeps your end goal in mind at all times. Ben has a wide variety of students, and seems to enjoy tailoring each lesson to the student. He is very flexible; allowing you to lead the direction of the lesson as he acts as a guide, or will take the reins (if like me, you are unsure of a direction). He is also willing to work around your schedule (given a reasonable amount of notice).
My background: I have always loved to sing, but had never had any formal training. I decided to pursue training simply to gain confidence as a singer and take comfort in feeling like I knew what I was doing.

I feel very fortunate to have found Ben. I've been taking lessons for almost a year and feel that I've really developed my fundamentals considerably. My primary interest is in the pop/rock spectrum but Ben's classical background/expertise has helped me feel much more confident across the different registers and even helped increase my range a few notches. And his broad musical knowledge across genres has helped in giving very helpful tips for the eclectic repertoire we're working on, with advice ranging from breathing, diction, musicality to performance aspects. It also doesn't hurt that Ben always makes lessons fun and interesting--I'm always learning something new and helpful and enjoying the process too. Would recommend lessons with Ben without qualification!
