Introduction

I have many years of experience tutoring people of all ages, from first grade to high school, preparing for a GED, and some college classes. When I was in school, the teachers would often have me helping the children that were struggling with the style they taught in. I have experience finding alternate methods of teaching in order to make sure that my pupils fully understand the subject. My main goal is to make sure that the student is enjoying learning and that helps in making sure that they will remember the lessons.

I think Halie is a great tutor. I hired her to help me with a refresher course dealing with basic math, algebra and geometry to pass the teacher certification exam. The tutoring is taking place at her home, which is a short distance from FM1187. She is very patient. She has a great way of explaining the solution to a problem using several different methods. The thing I liked the most is that she is able to show me where it is that I am messing up when working out a problem. So far so good! I just know that with all her awesome advice and math tricks, I am for sure going to pass that exam!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My usual rate depends on what level I'm tutoring at, but I am always willing to work something out if need be. It is important to me that I am paid fairly, but it is even more important that the student gets the time needed to fully understand the lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to discuss with my client what their expectations are and see if they are within reason given their time limit and budget. I like to meet somewhere that the student is comfortable but has limited distractions, at least for the first few sessions until I know for sure how the student learns and handles different situations. After that we can figure out where is best for them in order to retain the most information.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was in school I served as a class tutor from a young age and have continued to do so as I'm able.
