- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing can vary according to specific needs. Events vary in time a 15 minute march to several hours or even all day. Other things to consider are covered in the following questions. Pricing can range from $650 to $3500. The upper end is probably the extreme but we have played events that required travel, lots of equipment set up etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First thing is setting up some communication. I like to establish a comfortable relationship with clients. That usually starts with email or phone conversations, but sometimes I will try to meet with clients to see the venue and determine what is needed, or maybe just meeting for coffee to talk about the plans and make sure all parties are at ease. That is especially true for wedding couples. Neither party wants to encounter surprises at such an important event.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Years of practice and performing with other talented musicians. That experience comes in various forms. We have played weddings, for corporate banquets/presentations, Mardi Gras parades, clubs, performing at schools and even working with music students during the day before a performance that evening. This past year we even played at two different ranches. One was for a couple who were married literally in an open pasture on their family ranch. The other was a New Orleans style funeral in which the ashes of the family members were buried on the ranch pro[perty. The request was for traditional New Orleans jazz. It turned out to be a truly memorable occasion.
