About
As the owner of P.M. Wood Design, I bring over 9 years of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing high‑end finish materials for both commercial and residential spaces.
As a true craftsman, I start with rough lumber and carefully transform it into custom pieces that become artistic focal points in your home. Every project is approached with precision, durability, and design in mind, so the result not only looks beautiful but also adds real value to your property.
As a licensed General Building Qualifier and a one‑person shop, you’ll work directly with me from concept through installation. If you’re ready to elevate your space with thoughtful, custom woodwork, I’d be happy to discuss your project.

Phil was awesome to work with. He was very detailed in his work and made sure it was exactly the way I wanted it. He gave me websites to check out designs I might like whereas the other companies that I got bids on just asked me what type of wood I wanted. It was my first railing I had ever picked out and I didn’t know there were so many choices. If I had gone with someone else I’m not sure what my railing would’ve looked like bc they all gave me a final bid but I never saw a picture or drawing of what it would look like. Phil sent a beautiful draft of the railing and even suggested things I didn’t think of that would make the railing better. His suggestions made my railing better than I had designed. He does quality work. The previous railing that was in my house was always a little wobbly. I thought it was bc my boys were hard on it while growing up. Phil noticed that the previous railing had not been ground to a 2x4 under the floor. It was very unstable and my boys were lucky the railing never fell. He opened up my floor , put in stability, closed the floor and now my new railing is secure and anchored. That’s the details I’m talking about. The railing is not only beautiful to look at , it is safe and stable. I have before and after pictures but the after picture just look at the railing bc I still am prepping and painting my wall. 😊 Thank you Phil for a new beautiful updated look 👍🏻👊🏻😀.

Phil did an excellent job installing a door for me. He was very professional, friendly and made sure everything was just the way I wanted it to be. I would highly recommend him.

Phil is the finest finish carpenter I have ever met! He fabricated and installed a banister for us. On his site it is the one shown in the photo on the left. It was like watching a wooden boat being built. He used a complex set of brackets and clamps to bend the railing. The finished product is beautiful, sturdy and a real improvement over what we had. He is a tireless worker who kept us posted on what he was going to do and when. He was neat and cleaned up every day and when the project was finished. I strongly recommend him!

Look, quite frankly, you won’t find a more professional craftsman. I have been an engineer for 30 years and I’ve worked with every trade. I can say with confidence that Phil is world class.
FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is based upon the specific jobs needs. I feel that to give the customer the most accurate job pricing is by meeting with the customer face to face, engaging in conversation about the scope of the job, and outlining a plan on what it will take to complete the job within budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical process for working with a new customer involves three steps:
First: The first step involves a meeting face to face. By doing this it allows each party the chance to evaluate the other party based off of first impressions. It's important for both of us to determine if it fits. (Does this fit?)
Second: For the second step I introduce myself, my company, and the experience that I have. This allows me to show the customer that I am qualified for the job.
Third: In the third step I take input from the customer regarding the job and give my input regarding the job. This step involves negotiations on the materials that are needed, the scope of the job proposed, an estimate of the time schedule, payment arrangements, and contracts signed by both parties. I also address what occurrences would determine a change order and how much it would cost. I also educate the customer about the State of Utah Lien Recovery Act that all contractors are required by law to abide by. This step is important because it sets the expectation of the job to both parties.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over twenty five years experience of working in the residential home industry as an employee and employer. I've designed, manufactured and installed both commercial and residential products. I also have over twenty five years working with woods and wood working equipment.
