Introduction: Meet the Tutors! Sophia Tran: College graduate (summa cum laude) in Biochemistry with a MBA offering tutoring services for all student levels. I have 5 years of tutoring experience, will provide full lesson plans and guides, and will work diligently to ensure that you not only pass, but succeed in your current class. Tutoring sessions will be done online through Zoom. I am currently ONLY doing remote learning at the moment and cannot travel to locations. Textbooks and learning material will be provided free of cost, and listed below are tutor expectations and student expectations. ____________________________________________________________________________ What to Expect: 1) Punctuality. That means being able to work within the capacity of the time frame, extending sessions further out to compensate, or setting up a follow-up session (sometimes free-of-charge) in order to make sure all material is covered. 2) Transparency. If I don't know something or the material, it is my ethical responsibility to provide that information to either the student or the parent to allow them ample time to adjust or to find another tutor. One size does not fit all and the primary focus is always to learn. 3) Preparation. Each session should be prepared in advance with specific topics to go over. Sophia is an amazing math instructor. She understands the needs of students who is struggling therefore, she goes far and beyond her duties to make sure the students needs are being met. She has provided amazing service to my 12th grade son. My son struggled in math causing him to fail his math class and possibly preventing him from graduating from high school soon. After having a conversation with Sophia she assured me that he will pass his math class and graduate on time with his classmates. After Sophia several tutorial session my son no longer struggles in math. She works hard in making sure the child understands how to solve the math problems. She goes step by step with the child until they understands.I can say that my son is now passing his math class and is about to graduate from high school soon. Sophia stepped in at the right time. She truly has taken stress off me and now I know that my son has a bright future ahead. Sophia is the reason why my son is about to graduate from high school. I can not thank her enough. Sophia was professional, friendly, and is an exceptional tutor. A true master of the subject I requested tutoring in and abundantly patient. She was easy to contact and keep in contact with, promptly responding to any questions, comments and concerns I had. She promised I’d achieve an “A” in the course and that’s exactly what happened. Sophia is amazing! I'm so happy with my son's improvement! My son who is an A student was struggling in Algebra. After working with his tutor this quarter he's gone from a 79% to 96%! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am willing always to negotiate pricing based on you or your student's needs. I can offer package deals, late night tutoring, or some sort of assistance with learning material. I believe all students should get the help they need and deserve. That being said, I recommend all students and parents of students go over their budget and see what works best for them in order to get the help they need within their own price range.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I want to make sure I am a good fit for the student/teacher professional relationship, and I will take the time to get to know the student and make sure they're happy with my teaching methods. I will also provide an early test to see how they do and see how much help they actually need. The first session includes one hour, anything after that is a regular price based on what was previously negotiated.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology, a Master's degree in Business Administration and am working on another degree in Instructional Design (Master's of Education). I have also worked as a teaching assistant/graduate assistant, worked in undergraduate biochemical research, and have extensive resources in honing my teaching ability.
