I started photography while I was in high school and eventually became a photography teacher at the high school and college level. During my teaching career, I continued a side business as a freelance photographer and had lots of experience in a wide variety of styles and techniques. I am now retired from teaching, but am able to turn all the photo skills I taught for years into a successful photography and graphic design business. I specialize in commercial photography and have tons of experience in product, event and headshot photography. My clients cover a wide spectrum of the commercial, entertainment and non-profit worlds. I am also able to volunteer my skills for charity and volunteer organizations. I use professional equipment and can be completely portable for location work with both my camera and lighting equipment. My post production (editing) skills have developed over many years of teaching and using the latest versions of photo and graphics software. John was phenomenally talented, easy to work with but also flexible with where we met to do the shoot.He has taken head shots for my acting career and also done family portraits outdoors for us as well. He gave me a ton of different poses to choose from, spent a lot of time with extensive equipment for special lighting. He was also flexible about a wardrobe change in the middle. He also did some post production photo touch up work that sure helped me look my best!

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for John Craigle. I first met John when he was working with the Salt Lake Career and Technical Education Center, producing exceptional marketing results and making a huge difference in the lives of students taking advantage of education and training programs there. I was thrilled to be in a position to take advantage of Johns skills and talents after he retired from Salt Lake District. His enduring interest in students and in Career and Technical Education (CTE) made him the ideal candidate to help the CTE Division of the Utah State Office of Education develop a much needed photo library. CTE educators across the state were in desperate need of high quality photos that could reflect the exciting programs available to students. John had a great track record, having developed a suite of graphic products (newsletter, mail template, posters, etc.) that featured his original and inspiring photographs of students and classroom labs. I am certain that Johns compassion and caring for people is a key component of his ability to capture beautiful photographs that communicate on many levels. The project that John completed for the Utah Career Resource Network was the Utah CTE Photo Library, consisting of close to 2,500 photographs. John brought his vast knowledge and experience not only of photography, but of personalities and educational and business practices his high quality, professional-grade equipment, his photo-editing talents, and his seemingly endless energy in order to deliver this incredible Photo Library to Utah educators. The Library has been an invaluable resource to educators across the state who are able to find photographs of local students, learning in CTE facilities and classrooms within their own regions. The photographs have found their way into many publications, onto websites, and ultimately into the hands of students who are better informed about their educational options as a result. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending John Craigle. He has many talents, and I know that any project to which he brings those talents will be highly successful.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are some rough guidelines for pricing, but so much depends on not only the time spent on the shoot, but also on the level of post-production editing that the client wants or needs.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With a process as intimate as a photograph, I try to spend a little time getting to know my clients so I can interpret how they want to look. During the shoot, I also like to confer with clients to make sure we are going in the direction they want. Simple changes in lighting and posing can make big changes in the finished result.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's Degree and have taught photography at the high school and college level.
