FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
A tuning and servicing of a piano costs $85. This price includes a tuning, and I will also vacuum, repair, clean, and inspect the piano. Minor regulation and repair is included in this price (including being able to fix most sticky keys). Other work preformed in a clients location is charged at a rate of $80 per hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A new customer, for the price of their tuning, will have their piano evaluated, any minor regulation and repairs completed, and tuned. For the vast majority of customers this is all that needs to be done to the piano for the first visit. After the initial tuning, a tuning schedule, usually on a 6 month or 1 year cycle is set up.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I learned from a master piano technician before I began working as a piano technician at Brigham Young University while completing a degree in civil engineering . I learned from masters of the trade and worked on everything from 10 foot concert grand pianos to small practice room uprights. I mastered my craft and learned how to truly care for wonderful instruments by tuning and maintain nearly 100 different pianos.
