FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing varies according to age, length of lesson time each week, and family discounts.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once hired, I talk to the parent on the telephone to briefly discuss the child so I can learn a little about that student. I want to know things like behavior issues, health issues, physical issues, type of instrument they will practice on, how many days per week can they practice? Are the parents divorced? If so, can the child practice at both houses or just one? Getting to know the child and circumstances helps me be a better teacher so that I meet their needs. I always want a parent or parents to come to the child's first lesson so that we can see each other face to face and if the student is very nervous or shy, having a parent with them helps a lot.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took piano lessons for 30 years. During that time, my piano studies and practice helped me to be crowned as Miss Roy, Miss Weber State, and Miss North Ogden. In addition, I received a non-finalist Talent Award at the Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant. Whenever possible, I attend workshops/seminars for piano teachers to keep me learning new things to pass onto my students, and to enhance my lesson planning. I am a member of several piano associations/organizations. I have also received several awards for my teaching along with a grant.
